MODERN BRITISH: William Gear RA (1915 - 1997)
William Gear is best known for his abstract compositions and his involvement with the CoBrA art group.
He worked under Léger in the late 1930s, and returned to Paris in the late 1940s.
After living and exhibiting in Paris for three years he moved back to England. He became head of the Faculty of Fine Art at Birmingham College of Art in 1965.
